Hi ladies a week or so back I put up some plant ID requests from the garden of a house we are buying and it was suggested I get better photos.....so here goes
The first one is that giant tree thing shown in the garden with a close up of the leaves and bark.
The 2nd one has better photos of the ones I asked about before. No1 is a very pretty but messy looking raggletagle bush with what look like tiny orchid type things on it never seen anything like it before and No6 is an Fuchsia I think?? The red tinged leaves one ( No2) I was also asked to post better pics of as it's was suggested it's was a red robin?
Sorry I'm a hopeless new gardener Confused
Thank you all so much x

6 is a fuschia

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2018 22:10

I think 3 is Spirea

Pinkywoo · 29/06/2018 22:11

Giant tree thing is a beech.

clairethewitch70 · 29/06/2018 22:13

5 is hypericum - st johns wort

glitterbiscuits · 29/06/2018 22:13

5 is hypericum aka St Johns Wort

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2018 22:16

5 is Sweet Amber or Tutsan - usually grows from birds spreading it. Really pretty.

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2018 22:17

Sweet amber is also known as 'hypericum' as cLairethewitch said.

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2018 22:18

It is hard to tell but 1 could be a type of jasmine. We have one like that in pink, the flowers are tiny.

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2018 22:22

4 might be a campanula or canterbury bell buds - not sure.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 29/06/2018 22:22

Thank you all so so much...OH is very much a slash and burn type gardener and I want to have nice shrubs so if I can say no that's a .....it helps save the plant Grin

Number 2 could be a dogwood - if it is it will turn a beautiful red in the autumn.

SoupDragon · 29/06/2018 22:48

The giant tree thing is a hazel.

I thought 2 was dogwood too. I hate mine as it is taking over.

Pinkywoo · 30/06/2018 08:42

Oops sorry @Soupdragon is right, it's a hazel.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 30/06/2018 09:12

No 1 is part of the sweet pea family lathyrus vernus.

I know this because I bought one earlier in the year at a flower show!

Mine is purples and blues, but like all sweet peas, they range from white through to deep pink and purple.

Just give them a trim to get rid of the seed heads and help the plant focus on getting strong for next years flowers Smile

SoupDragon · 30/06/2018 10:30

I only know it’s a hazel because I’ve been chopping them down all over my garden this week! I don’t know many plants but I’m now an expert on hazel, sycamore, brambles and ivy 😂

MissCherryCakeyBun · 30/06/2018 15:06

Brambles and he like are rife as the house has been empty for nearly 2 years the former owners son has mowed the lawns and that's all so one bramble we spotted was nearly 4cm thick at its base,......going to have to dig up half the garden to get that out

2 could be a peonie? Is it about knee height and bushy?

3 is a hydrangea

5000FingersofDrT · 01/07/2018 09:12

Agree with LuluJakey that 3 is a spirea. I have one with flowers the same colour, though mine has lighter foliage.

longwayoff · 02/07/2018 10:00

2 is not a peony. 3 is spiraea.
