Plants for nature in north facing spot

I have a corner in our garden that needs some love, I want to make it a bee and butterfly area but bright and colourful. The garden is north facing and the area gets the sun during the middle of the day.

I was thinking of putting a peony, azalea, dahlia and Japanese anemone. Can anyone advise if they would be suitable.

I think the Japanese anemone would be happy, but I’m not sure about the others. You could have a look at

for inspiration.

This is my Golden Showers rose on a North facing wall. I also have pots of herbs such as mint, chives and rosemary around it. They all do well with about an hour of direct sun, 30 mins East in the morning and 30 mins West in the afternoon.

Definitely not peonies and dahlias.
Not sure about azaleas/rhododendrons. Possibly. They thrive on the shady side of my garden.

Would recommend aquilegias, foxgloves, hellebores, David Austin’s Lady of the Lake rose, hydrangeas, snowdrops, bluebells, lily of the valley, lungwort, forget me not. And holly and mahonia. All are stunning and wildlife friendly.

And agree with japanese anemones to bloom in late summer too. They are lovely.
Also honeysuckle and climbing hydrangeas.
Fuschias/bleeding heart.
Witch hazel.
