Fill my planter

I constructed a planter out of wood 100cm x 50cm and 50cm deep. plan was to grow veggies (with limited success) and I have decided that for the space I have and time to grow I will change this and use it for small shrubs and flowers. Garden is south facing and area where planter is will be in shade from mid afternoon onwards.
I was sent a free Leucothoe scarletta (currently about 10cm high) with some plug plants which is looking worse for wear so have put this in the planter to see if it survives as I had nowhere else to put it.
I would like to grow high scented flowers as it is near to the house and I would love the punch of fragrance when I come out of the back door or in through the gate.
I have a new wisteria nearby so want to avoid climbers, I already have lavender, herbs, jasmine in the garden.
What would you recommend I plant to give me scent for as much of the summer as possible and which bulbs would you put in for early interest.

Stocks would smell lovely, if you can get one a perennial Stock is fab. How about a highly scented patio rose as a central feature?
A slow growing variety of mint? I have two lovely ones from a mint specialist in the Cotswolds. One is called Berries and Cream and the other is Strawberry mint. You could plant them in their pots to restrict the roots.

A rose would be lovely, I have a poor track record with roses but always willing to try again! Can anyone recommend an easyish high scent one?

Looking up the mint family now

Most of the David Austin range of roses have a good scent.
My favourite is "Gertrude Jeckyll"
