Ok, you green fingered lot....

I inherited a beautiful garden from previous owners, front and back, full of shrubs. For the last 8 years DH and I have been firefighting (hacking at the plants to keep them under control!) and now the DC are bigger we have time to garden and nurture these plants, but what ARE they?

Thanks in advance ....

I agree Philadelphus, the second could be a variegated Cornus and the third looks like an ash tree sapling.

Fab.... thank you both!

Unless you really want an ash tree in your garden I'd pull it up now. They grow rapidly and will be 30ft plus in no time bitter experience

Mountain Ash (Rowan) otoh is smaller and prettier

I thought the last one was a walnut tree, in any case pull it up, it will be a full sized tree and you won’t want that.

Aaah what is it with those ash trees? I have been plagued with them ever since I bought my house 12 years ago. They pop up everywhere!

They seed very easily. I'm constantly on patrol...I can spot them when they're about half an inch high now and out they come.

I.just need to work on the neighbours now.

They are also good at hiding, until they suddenly pop out 3 ft high!
I’ve just pulled out three, I swear they weren’t there yesterday!
