Neighbours gardener messing my garden up

So come home yesterday and neighbour's gardeners have been. They're a crew who turn up, sling a mower round, and hack off hedge pieces. Every time they come all the cuttings are left strewn in my garden. I messaged my neighbour to ask if he could have a word. Response I got was a really blunt text. " here's the number. Tell them yourself!!!!!" yes with all the exclamation marks. I'm gobsmacked. Is this reasonable? They don't bleeding work for me and I struggle to do my own garden.

Whether your neighbour is doing their own gardening or outsourcing it, they are responsible for making sure you are not negatively impacted. I'd call the company, but wouldn't be doing any favours for your neighbour.

The contract is between the neighbour and the gardener so of course it should be them who gets in touch. Very rude of them not to acknowledge the inconvenience to you, and at the very least offer to clear up your garden him/herself.

As to how you deal with it... in general how well do you get on with the neighbour?

Maybe:

Dear neighbour, thanks for the number. I wouldn't want to call them on your behalf in case they charge you extra for the clean-up. I'd really appreciate it if the mess was cleared today or tomorrow.

Well i thought we got on well. Done loads if favours like taking in parcels, putting bins out etc. Certainly wont be anymore!!

Unless you allow the gardeners access to your garden, the amount of clearing up they can do is minimal. Can you be arsed to facilitate access?

Depends on how petty you want to be... you could chuck the bits back over the fence. Or call the gardening company and ask them to try to get as little debris on your side as possible (unless they’re cutting bits off trees I don’t really see why any lands on your side). If the neighbour is being uncooperative (eg makes a fus when you return the mess), I’d totally stop taking their parcels!

Maybe they are having an off moment…

Invite them over to have a look?

Don't do anything for the neigjbbour sounds like they are all for
Them self, chuck the garden waste back over there garden and let them deal with it.

TheSpottedZebra · 04/06/2018 11:32

That's shit but you could use it to your advantage?
Eg- Dear Gardener, I am writing to you on behalf of Mr Neighbour. He has asked me to let you know that you need to properly dispose of your cuttings and clear up after yourselves.
Kind regards.

no it's all open plan PP! they literally walk across gravel to clean it up. It makes it worse as they have instant access. they just can't be arsed.
