Aqualegia
Very pretty

PhilODox · 16/05/2018 19:46

Erm, are you in my garden??? I've got those too! I think they're weeds disguised as flowers though! Grin

PhilODox · 16/05/2018 19:47

Ah, really?
Those are definitely flowers, not weeds then.

MissMarplesKnitting · 16/05/2018 19:48

The one closest to me is about 80-90cm high? Definitely above my waist (I am a very small person!)

As p.p. said, aqualegia. They come in all different beautiful colours but then they die off in the winter and always come back the next year purple!

madrush · 16/05/2018 19:50

It's aquilegia, I love it but it self seeds like mad when it's happy.

MissWilmottsGhost · 16/05/2018 19:50

Aquilegia, aka columbine, granny's bonnets.

My garden used to be full of them but I weeded too many out. Now I sprinkle the seeds every year to try to get them back.

MissWilmottsGhost · 16/05/2018 19:52

Mine come back pink, white and various shades of purple pisspot some are even doubles. They have been self seeding like that for more than 15 years now.

Aquilegia, aka granny’s bonnets.

BestIsWest · 16/05/2018 19:57

I love aquilegia. Will not grow in my garden though. I’ve seeded and planted them numerous times. Any idea why?

Usernom1234567890 · 16/05/2018 21:52

What's your soil like Best?

BestIsWest · 17/05/2018 19:01

It’s a bit clay-ey. Acid loving plants don’t do well generally.
