Got a fairly large bushy tree border area - things are sprouting up everywhere and I don’t have a clue - any help would be great thanks. Anyone know ehat this is - a lot of it is appearing in my bluebell patch.

Rhododendron?

Magpiesarehuge · 13/05/2018 12:38

I don’t think so, lots of shoots popping up all over, think it might be some kind of creeper. Wouldn’t mind rhododendrons as I’m looking to buy some.

Is it a pieris

averylongtimeasSpartacus · 13/05/2018 12:44

It's hypericum. It has yellow flowers and gets about 1 to 3 ft high depending on variety. It spreads, I think from underground roots, and in often used as ground cover in large planting schemes as it's very hardy.

IT might be Spartacus- i have a large established yellow flowering bush nearby - I’ll take a closer look at it. I just can’t keep control of it all - might need to get a gardener in.

Maybe i should have one ongoing thread and you can all sort out my garden for me. The husband isn’t interested so I’m on my own!

Agree, looks like hypericum to me

Hypericum, they can be a nuisance by seeding everywhere. The bullfinches love the seeds, so all not bad news!

I think hypericum too. Very pretty berries later in the year. I have it and it has sprung up in a couple of other places, but it hasn’t been madly invasive by any means .

Also hypericum here. Even in a dark, dry north facing bed it is taking over with deep roots. Need it pulled out. Is nice ground cover though.
