I reckon A is a smoke bush. I do not know what it’s fancy name is!

SoupDragon · 30/04/2018 13:22

Cotinus. I googled.

Lancelottie · 30/04/2018 13:22

Plant A is a cotinus, probably Cotinus 'Grace' if it has quite big leaves.
B - I don't know, but I have one too!

Hope someone can help with C and D.

JT05 · 30/04/2018 13:23

A looks like a Cotinus - smoke bush
B- is a Spirea looks like a variety known as Goldflame
C looks like a variety of Vibernum

JT05 · 30/04/2018 13:24

E looks like Philadelphus

welshgirlwannabe · 30/04/2018 13:26

Following - I have a b!

Izzywigs · 30/04/2018 13:28

A, Cotinus with a choysia behind
B, Spiraea, possibly gold flame
C, can’t remember the name I come back to,that
d. White flowering spiraea can’t tell the variety until it flowers

NotAnEMERGENCY · 30/04/2018 13:38

A: Yes, Cotinus seems right. Could be 'Grace' or could also be Cotinus coggygria (having just looked on Crocus website)? The leaves are particularly big - yet.

B: Yes, looks like Spiraea japonica 'Goldflame'.

C, D & E: still unsure.

Did post about D but it’s gone missing! I think it’s a Spirea called Bridal Wreath. Lots of little white flowers. Very pretty.

Trethew · 30/04/2018 14:25

C is a phygelius
E is a deutzia

Trethew · 30/04/2018 14:26

Sorry meant to say
C is physocarpa

Izzywigs · 30/04/2018 15:04

Do you think E might be Weiglia?

NotAnEMERGENCY · 30/04/2018 15:26

Having googled everyone's suggestions (thank you!), I currently think:

D: may well be Spiraea Arguta (Bridal Wreath)

E: could be a Deutzia (it has peeling bark)

Trethew: C doesn't look anything like the images of physocarpa on Google. ??

I think C may be viburnum opulus.

Trethew · 30/04/2018 16:33

Physocarpus comes in green, purple and rusty colours. Purple needs strong light to develop

Does anyone know what these are?
NotAnEMERGENCY · 30/04/2018 17:05

I don't think C is Viburnum opulus. (Had one in my old garden.)

I've had another look at Physocarpus on the internet and I can see now that the foliage is similar to my plant. (For some reason, when I first checked online, it came up with Gomphocarpus physocarpus, which looks completely different! Hence my surprise at Trethew's suggestion.)

Now to wait for the flowers and then I can check the answers are all right! Thank you all for your help!

C is physocarpus opulifolius 'Diobolo', I think.

Snowdr0p · 30/04/2018 20:05

I agree about C, I think it's a Physocarpus or ninebark. They come in different sizes and colours
