I am going to grow pumpkins again this year (musquee de Provence), seedlings are growing strong on a bright windowsill. I last tried two years ago but my pumpkin plants died in the heatwave (when I daftly went on holiday)
Has anyone grown pumpkins on a compost heap, and did you then get any pumpkins, or only leaves? My compost heap isn’t very nutritious, mainly green and brown garden clippings, so there shouldn’t be a nutritional overload, but it would keep the tangle of foliage out of the way and keep the plants moist and warm.
The other option would be in front of a beech hedge, south facing so full sun, but the ground gets very dry in summer and I would have to water a lot.
Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
