Does mint normally take over your garden?

I planted a small pot last year and its now all over my erb bed and half way across the lawn.

If I just pull what I can see up, will I get rid of it?

did you plant it under the ground in the pot?

spudmasher · 19/04/2007 16:20

It will take a lot of pulling up and you will have to keep an eye on it. Best to keep it in a pot next time (that advice comes courtesy of the Ministry of the Bleedinobvious)

Next time plant it in a big bottomless bucket sunk into the ground, to contain the roots.
I once bought a brand new house and the garden topsoil was infested with mint. It grew up through the lawn, but did smell lovely when i cut it

Unless you get rid of all the roots, it will keep on coming.
Mine is planted in a terracotta pot, and the roots are escaping out the base and trying a bid for freedom across the patio.

Argggggggghhhhhhh no I didn't use a pot. Oh god, we'll be infested for ever.

Runs off to start pulling it up

my garden is infested with it, it smells nice though when the boys fall in it.

ChippyMinton · 19/04/2007 16:25

Relax. Buy the biggest bottles of Pimms and lemonade you can find, you will always have enough mint

I planted mine in a pot too and it is still trying to take over the world.
