Leaf Blowers

I hate the noise of these things and have always raked leaves however I'm seriously considering one now. We are (luckily) surrounded by trees and they all fall in to my front garden (all planted). It's impossible to get them out without damaging plants so I just kind of leave them there.

We also have a large area of council kept land and 4 huge sycamore trees. The council won't blow the leaves off the grass so they just lie there, become soggy and destroy the grass. It really is too much work to rake these...there must be tonnes.

So...can anyone recommend a leafblower or any other suggestion? Thank you

I’d like a leaf ‘vac’ I have one but it’s so heavy it doesn’t get used!

Disappointed with the lack of response on the gardening forum so I'll put under chat and hope there will be responses there.

I use a STIHL BG 86 C-E Blower and have found it to be very good. I blow them into piles first. Then bag them for the compost.

It is petrol but is easy to use and has a good amount of power. Electric blowers aren't any good.

If you want to really go for it then you can order a backpack blower but they aren't cheap.

We have a bosch. Dh loves it. He can't wait for the leaves to fall. He has blowing wars with next door.
If you suck them it mulches them up, but he says it's much more fun blowing them

Oh my goodness.."just what I needed" I don't want to spend ~£600 on something that is really our council's responsibility, but it looks good.

Dingit - what tool does your husband have (if you know what I mean!)

I bought a leaf sucker and blower but it doesn't do anything to wet leaves so it's a waste of space. Maybe if you live in a dry area and have dry leaves a leaf blower would be good for blowing them into a pile and bagging them up. Not here in S Wales.

STIHL BG 86 C-E is around the £200 mark. From experience the electric ones aren't any good. Especially with the amount you have. I use the bg 86 at work and would recommend it.

You get what you pay for with leaf blowers and vacs! I have had electric ones around the £100 mark and none have made the job any easier than using a rake.
I have a Stihl SH 86 C-E and wouldn't be without it
