Is there anything I can put in my pots so they don't need watering as often?

You could also put what I think the pro's call a decorative "mulch" on top of the soil around the plants to stop evaporation from the exposed soil... I use pebbles from the beach, gives the garden that "Coast" look too.. but you can use slate chippings, those glass bead things, shells, broken bits of china, anything really as long as it protects the soil and allows the rain and water to get in, but not to evaporate out again.
