I'm after a nice looking and hardy houseplant...
Any suggestions?
Is like a decent sized one in a pot
Thanks!

Aspidistra.

Depending on where you live, can be put outside in the summer.

No pets so that's not an issue

An umbrella plant , Schefferlia(?) is a very good house plant. They can grow as tall as you want and don't mind being pruned down to size. The prunings can be rooted for small plants.
They like to be outside in the summer and are as tough as old boots!

I don't think you can beat an old fashioned spider plant tbh. If you're anywhere near Halesowen I've got one I can give you :)

Aspidistras are lovely too - that's next on my list.

I've never managed to keep a spider plant a) green, b) alive - and they are supposed o be a real beginners plant!

If you can track one down, I am currently obsessed with Chinese Money plant. I have 2 in lovely anthropologie pots at the moment... They give off little baby plants, like a spider plant.

Tall and sturdy - yucca plant. I've had mine for years and haven't really done much to it other than remove the odd dead leaf. You find them in homebase or ikea.
