Any chance you guys could recommend some fast growing screening plants to grow tall to give me some much needed peace please?

Classic answer is bamboo, in a pot! What are you trying to screen? Will it be on a trellis or fence?

MrsSkeffington · 18/08/2017 08:08

Neighbours lol - it can be either and it's against a fence.
It's a shady side for info
I did say bamboo but someone said it wasn't good environmentally- is that true?

It would need to be higher than a six foot fence

Watching with interest.
Op you can get garden screens. Not sure if they're any good though. Homebase had them a while ago.

Pyracantha and honeysuckle would be my choice. Best to buy them whe. They are already over 5ft to begin with and they will soon grow to cover your fence.

My dh built some raised beds and planted bamboo and it does grow fast. Laurel is a good hedging plant and grows pretty quick too.

Got a big laurel already at the end which originally I was going to cut down but after moving in I love it lol! Would jasmine be good?

Thing is if u plant bamboo it won't grow as well in a pot as it would in the ground or beds as it will be limited by the space it has to spread its roots.

Pansythepotter · 18/08/2017 08:41

Jasmine would be good, but not all Jasmine are evergreen. You could buy a few varieties so that they lose their leaves at different times.

MrsSkeffington · 18/08/2017 09:42

Thanks guys! Any other recommendations?

Leycesteria, grows fast and is quite happy in a pot. You can cut it down and it bounces back again.
Escallonia, is evergreen and a big plant would be quite quick growing.

Thanks so much! I'll let you know what I decide on
