Help needed for vegetable boxes

Hi, I am new to veg gardening and have recently purchased 2 veg boxes. What are the easiest things to begin with that can be planted in August please? I already have mint, parsley, strawberries and a couple of tomato plants elsewhere.

How big are your veg boxes? It makes quite a difference to what you can grow in them.
salad leaves and spinach can be sown now
If you have a bit more space and depth then chard for overwinter is a possibility, along with spring greens.

This time of year, winter lettuce, small autumn round carrots might be a goer, radish, pak choi, leeks if you can get pre grown ones, and all the greens, mustard, rocket, loose leaf lettuces, cress, mizuna etc.

Thanks both - the size is H110 x W100 x D42cm. I've bought some lettuce seed today and will plant over the weekend Smile

Careful of your mint btw wherever it is - its a thug , I keep mine in a separate pot :) .

bookmark yes it's in a separate trough but I use quite a lot of mint on a regular basis and plus our rabbits love eating it!

haha! - may have to change :)
I have about 5 or 6 different mints ( chocolate, ginger etc ) - but Alternative has a proper collection if I remember right

I had around 30 different types, yes.

I have been giving a few away that didn't necessarily do anything for me. eg Apple mint I love but it grows too tall for the pots I have and no way am I putting it in the garden. I have put my Lime Balm into the garden in two places though as it is so rare that I want it to prosper so I can take cuttings and give it away. Also, Tashkent mint, one of the nicest smelling ones, I use when teaching taking root cuttings so just pull a load up and take it with me when I run courses. All other mints, in pots only.
