We moved house 6 months ago and I'm trying to work out what's in our garden. I haven't got a clue about plants. So far I've managed to identify a holly tree, some bamboo and irises, and we've had crocuses, hyacinths, bluebells, daffodils and sorrel in a raised bed. And there's an apple tree, a cherry blossom tree and TONNES of ivy as well. After that I'm stumped.

Last photo in first post is Astilbe - Goat's Beard. I've two, they take loads of neglect/punishment and come back every year.

Cross posted with loads of more knowledgeable people than me!

The second last one is a bit misleading, it does look like a geranium but what doesn't show in the photo are the lovely fruit it had back in winter - it's a chinese lantern plant. I'd forgotten about that. It was gorgeous around christmas or so.

PencilsInSpace, we do rather like it : ) It's very small but packed full of interesting things. We've never had anything but grass and a few herbs before, so this is fascinating.

Last one is shamrock!

Badweekjustgotworse · 13/06/2017 20:43

12 is a contorted hazel. Grows huge, ours is 6 m high. Dig it up and put it if you want to keep it but don't have room as it's really beautiful with its weird twisty stems

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 14/06/2017 07:30

The second to last one is Alchemilla mollis (ladies mantle). Very good underplanting for roses. Will self seed a lot so keep an eye out.

The last one is Oxalis - good in shade but can spread a bit so watch out.

At 18:45, the last one is Drimys I think - if it has reddish stems and white flowers then yes. The second is Matteuccia Struthiopteris (shuttlecock fern) and the first one is Photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin'.

You could really have done with numbering these if you are going to put so many up.
I could ID more for you but it's too confusing without numbers for you to reference, I don't want to confuse you.

I agree with Trethew.
All of them are fairly standard shrubs/perennials and most (if not all of them) can take a bit of neglect and continue to flourish.
Note that the rhodos & azaleas are acid loving so need different feed/compost than the others.
