Hi
I have an area alongside my front path which needs some attention. Weeded and dug up the soil very well today. Was covered in 'baby tears' weed I think?
I would like to plant a few things to fill the space. Criteria are:
Evergreen - I want it to look good all year round
Hardy (I've killed lavender)
Must like shade (it's north facing)
Cheap to buy
Just grows without too much attention

Does such a thing exist?

Thanks in advance

Hebe might fit the bill. It's pretty tough and is evergreen, but comes in a variety of green shades, including a red leaf. Also, a variety of sizes.

There are tons of options, what size is the space?

PotteringAlong · 01/06/2017 16:38

How about a Tom Thumb fuchsia?

PotteringAlong · 01/06/2017 16:38

Or an acer.

Thanks everyone
Space is about 14ft long and 2.5ft wide so space for lots
Re tom thumb fuchsia - what is it like in winter. The fuchsia in my back garden just looks like twigs in winterConfused

Not the prettiest I'll grant you but they'll grow anywhere and are a bugger to kill Grin

do you want a row of all the same stuff or do you want a variety? what would be the ideal height?

WellTidy · 01/06/2017 19:04

A pink red robin? Would you like something that flowers/has berries?

AstrantiaMajor · 01/06/2017 20:26

Eunymous would be my choice

There is a lovely euonymous called silver queen I think. The new growth is pure white, green tinges developing over time.

euonymus would be lovely (lots of different varieties) or alternating a yellow green euonymus with a little golden cedar. or maybe a rhododendron although they reach towards the sun.
