Tree recommendations?

Could anyone kindly recommend me a tree for a very shady corner of the garden.

Soil is quite clay like/waterlogged too although will have about a foot of good top soil added first.

Been googling but need advice as looking for something to give height in the corner.

Amelanchier love a moist soil. Prunus Serelia has lovely brown bark, Betula Jacamontimhas white trunk. Acer Griseum is also quite happy in a bit of shade. Any of the Salix or pyracantha would also be ok there.

AstrantiaMajor thanks so much. I will google them now and choose. Thank you.

When you dig out the planting hole, it might be a good idea to fork in some horticultural grit into the heavy clay. Then put in the right planting Compost and once that is done cover with a composted bark mulch. The new tree will still need watering in for the first month until the roots find their way into the surrounding soil.

I apologise if this is teaching granny to suck eggs.

No it's really useful thank you. I'm a garden novice and my luck so far is a bit hit and miss (as is my difficult soil) so I really appreciate the advice Smile

How tall is the tree you are planning to buy? An excellent supplier is Barcham Trees. They are expensive but very big. Even if you are not buying from them, I suggest you look on their website as it has the best tree guide I ever seen.
