What could climb up this trellis?

Any climbers suitable for climbing up two sides of this just outside our front door? I love smelly things and was wondering if jasmine is an option. But for year round interest i would ideally like a mix of things. Any thoughts?

Clematis?
Jasmine? (Not sure which one)
Any foliage creepers? (Not ivy)
Already got a honeysuckle growing up the wall just to the right of the door

I'd do some sweet peas

Oh and evergreen would be ideal. And perennial obviously.

Although can I put in sweet pea and morning glory seeds straight into the ground anyway in addition at this time of year?

A rose

Jasminum Nudiflorum is semi-evergreen, and often flowers before anything else. It clips nicely into a hedge (lazy option), or you can prune it to make it look like a climber (keen gardener option). Mine is unscented, but some varieties have fragrance.

Thornless Rose Banksii Lutea grows really quickly and smells lovely. It is early flowering, does does not need much pruning. so you could plant something else for autumn/winter.

How about mixing a thornless scented rose with a clematis?

Umpteenthnamechange · 02/05/2017 11:27

Thanks very much - it's clematis and sweet peas and climbing rose!!

Sweet peas need to be sown about a month ago.
I'd buy some seedlings and chuck some seeds in too got good measure

For beautiful foliage which turns pink in the autumn, try a Chinese Virginia creeper. Not as vigorous as the normal Virginia creepers. I had one at my last house and it was lovely x

I am not going to be doing sweet peas from seed. They are available in the garden centres for under a wild for lots in a little pot ready to go in :)

How about Trachelospermum jasminoides? Evergreen and very scented. Could be clipped to make an arch around the door and porch.

Just planted that jasmine literally last evening!!!
