Help!! I've recently taken on an allotment, mainly to help with depression and introduce dc to veg/fruit growing. It's so overwhelming that I feel it's all too much but I'm determined not to give up after 4 weeks! Dc hate it btw as does oh Confused

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I saw a week or so ago a post on our community Facebook page asking for a gardener to spend a day preparing their allotment? I thought it was a genius idea, get someone to do the hard work and digging then you can pitch up and plant stuff!? Loving the idea of your sun flower seeds.

Brilliant idea to get someone to do all the prep!! Though that's no good for me I need to do this for myself unfortunately!

Seed and plant catalogues are great fun, advertised in gardening mags or order on-line. I got carrot and parsnip seeds on tape. When the rows are dead straight it's easier to see what's weed and what's not when they first come up. Don't think I'd order plants again though, if they turn up when you haven't got time to go and plant them for a week it's a nuisance. I loved browsing for inspiration though.

Thinking of putting my name down again now.

Haha, I usually chuck all those plant catalogues out! Will have a flick through next time. I've decided to pay my youngest ds to help for an hour or 2 everyday, he's happy with the pocket money and I get the help and company I wanted!

If you took a Camp stove would your teens enjoy the fire work involved in boiling kettles etc? My 11 year old loves all that

Yes dep, that sounds like a good idea! Just a standard small camping stove?
