Can anyone tell me what this is? The photo makes it look white but its actually a delicate ice blue.

Apologies in advance if it's something obvious (I'm tired!). I spotted it on my walk home and was quite taken by it Grin

We have some we put in last autumn, but I can't remember their name. Pretty things!

incogKNEEto · 02/04/2017 22:59

Triteleia? Spring stars maybe?

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 03/04/2017 06:36

Can't remember either but it's very nice.

Veronicat · 03/04/2017 06:45

I think it's a whisley blue spring star.
They're related to the onion plant.
Really pretty things.

They look like Chinonodoxia, a lovely spreading bulb. We have them in blue, but you can get them in white. They pop up all over the place, a bit like crocus.

MattBerrysHair · 03/04/2017 07:17

Chionadoxa forbesii I think.

JT05 · 03/04/2017 08:12

Oops my spelling spread as well! Grin

Trethew · 03/04/2017 09:43

Ipheion uniflorum

bookbook · 03/04/2017 10:09

yes - I think Veronica and Trtehew may have it - chinodoxa ( or at least mine) have multiple flowers along the stem- not just one ,

MaudOnceMore · 03/04/2017 10:11

I think triteleia, too.

bookbook · 03/04/2017 10:16

I have just bought some Trieleia ( Queen Fabiola) corms from Aldi for 99p - it says summer flowering , July -October -?

bookbook · 03/04/2017 10:16

Triteleia

shovetheholly · 03/04/2017 10:40

I agree with trethew and book! Common name is the spring starflower, which sounds lovely!

Trethew · 03/04/2017 10:42

absolutely book, ipheion has one flower per stem whereas chionodoxa has more. Both have six petals but the chionodoxa's are evenly around the centre and the ipheion's have a sort of three on three arrangement

GingerKitCat · 03/04/2017 13:37

Glad to have inspired a debate! I've never seen it before but may have to get my mitts on some now Grin
