Two tone rose tree?

Hello!

So I would love a small tree in front of my house. Not too big as it will be relatively close (12 feet or so) and I don't want it to block out all light.

Did think about a Magnolia or Cherry blossom tree but got a bit worried about keeping the size down. So thought about a rose tree. I don't know anything really about plants so don't know what it is called, but I saw a tree with two tone roses once - pictures attached. Any clue what that might be called and where I might be able to find something like it?

Love the Robinia Frisia Casque Rouge but it grows too tall. I don't mind something that it bare in winter, but has leaves and flowers in spring.

It's out of stock at the moment Mermaid - is it the wrong time of year?

It is too late now to buy a bare root rose. These are only available when the rose is dormant, November to February. Bare rood roses come without a pot and are less expensive than potted roses. Plotted roses can be bought on line or at garden centres. If you wait till May and buy a rose from a garden centre you can see the flower shape and colour. You can either keep it in the pot and plant it in Winter or plant it straight away. Either way it will need lots of water through the summer.

I have bought mostly successfully on line but have had one or two disappointments with regard to colour. A blue rose Vischenblau turned out to be ugly and purple.

I have a dwarf Robinia Frisia. Very easy to prune to keep its height.

Where did you get it from Astrantia?

As astrantia said you've just missed the bareroot season so you'll have to buy potted.

Is price the only difference? (and potted comes in soil)

You can grow a camellia as a tree. Here's one I made earlier. A long time earlier.

Potted and bare root are a personal choice. I don't think one is necessarily bettter than the other. I buy from David Austin for my bare root ones, but have bought potted roses from Garden Centres.

I bought my Robinia Frisia from a garden centre. It is not Casque Rouge as they did not have it at the time. I have seen them on line, Ashridge Trees I think.

I am not sure if others would agree with me, but I would avoid buying from Primrose. I have heard others say they are a bit substandard.
