What plants for little plastic pots

We've recently got our patio paved and it's at a height. Surrounding it I would like some lovely little plants at feet and ankle as shin bright max. We've got tons of those little plastic plant pots and they fill out the lowered border of the raised patio beautifully. What plants would suit in those tiny pots? Like 5-7 CM's? Individual annuals or perhaps lavender? Would like perennials ideally but something lovely and smelly :) thanks in advance!

No perennials that I know of will be happy long term in pots that tiny, but annuals would be OK for a little while if you are diligent about watering. Maybe you could get away with some herbs, like thyme or sage as well.

The truth is that you are better off planting directly into the soil and having it grow up to the edge of the patio.

The surrounding is also paved. The bit just outside our garden door is raised into a dining area so there isn't soil there. I see what you mean - maybe I should get troughs

What about sedums or sempervivums?

Just confirming what liars says. Tiny pots are for propagation, not permanent homes. You can get some larger pots or troughs and plant those, however! If you like the idea of tiny, miniature, jewel-like plants, why not try an alpine trough?
