Does anyone grow blueberries?

I am thinking of buying 3 blueberry bushes which I have seen in a plant catologue. Does anyone grow them? And with what sucess?

The ones I plan to get would be to plant in pots on the patio. So I assume not frost hardy.

I got given a blueberry bush recently so can't really advise as I've only had it a few months. Am v. excited though ! Apparently they take about 3 years to grow fruit but I think mine is about that old already so fingers crossed as dd is a blueberry fiend !

Mine has been out over the winter so assume its fairly hardy. Will have to see what it does now spring has almost sprung.

They are frost hardy, but you need to use ericaceous compost. Mine are a bit feeble after several years in the same compost, I think they need a repot, and if anyone has any advice about pruning it would be very welcome!

Ah good news about then being frost hardy because I am OK at gardening in the garden but as soon as a plant enters the house it usually dies. My lemon tree, for instance. But would have liked it fruit before 3 years. What varieties do you have?

Not sure what variety, they were a hand-me-down from a mate who emigrated to Canada.

I have a few in the backyard, got them last year but didn't get any fruit (Maybe 'cos 1st year?) ones in allotment did a couple of berries though.

sorry - don't know what variety I have. Have just been out to look but the wind seems to have blown the tag away at some point. But good news, it definitely has new growth on it so has def. survived the winter !!

I was told when I got mine that you need 2 different varieties to ensure pollination. Not sure how true it is, but I did buy 2.

Mine are in big tubs and are frost hardy. They fruit better in tubs apprantly.
