Namely, the roses, honeysuckle, blackberry and other fruit bushes? I spent about £8 in there on a whim, and am wondering if my gamble will pay off…

By the way... hope everyone is staying safe and doing okay in the current situation of lock down !

Ah great, sounds like you did ok with those!
Mixed results for my budget buys. Wilko seeds and bulbs are all good.
Bare root fruit shrubs not as successful on the whole - raspberry dead, blueberry struggling although the gooseberry looks happy enough.

Yes, I have found them fine, these at the £1 ones which are sticks basically, I've had Mick orange, deutzia, fruit bushes, roses. I'll plant them in a bucket of good quality compost , they take a year or sometimes 2 to get big enough to plant out but it is so satisfying to know that you raised that amazing busy from.a dry stick !
I've found b and m cheap plants good, aldi, lidl, wilko, Homebase are all my go tos. I think it's worth researching your plant, the care needed, what compost needed etc, you get out the care you put in.
