Anyone want to play a game of plant the plot?

As the weather is foul and few of us can get out to garden, I thought that you might like a little game.

You have been bequeathed a Small planting plot. It is 2 metres square. What plants would you put in it ?

Can we choose soil/location/aspect?

I'm at the planning stage for a patch a little bit smaller than this, have given up trying to grow perenials, bulbs etc as nothing seems to do very well.
South facing, poor stony soil. Have decided I don't care what it looks like in winter, its just under the kitchen window so can't see it when I look out . Will focus on it being lovely in spring and summer.
We get frogs and toads visiting then, also see the occasional dragonfly and damselfly so will have a tiny pond (plastic pot 60cm diam x 42cm ht sunk into ground) with native water plants.
Bee/butterfly flower seed mix for rest of patch.

I have just enlarged my border by this amount and my plans are:

South facing, clay soil, reasonably well drained, south-east UK near coast.

I sophora Little Baby
4 Dahlias
1 smallish rose, probably Munstead Wood
geraniums
phlox
agapanthus
possibly an obelisk with rhodochiton climbing up it and/or a winter clematis
a scrambling clematis or two.
alchemilla mollis for edging

That sounds lovely. Have not decided on mine yet. I keep changing it.

In the top right corner I am having a single stem Silver Birch under planted with cockburnianus . Then Fanning out from the corner Cornus midwinter fire. Acer Sango Kaku, Astrantia Major Red Claret and Grasses Stipa Tenuissima with sanguisorba peeping through

beautiful! those colours sound stunning.

It's about the size of my last garden, which I was really sad to leave as it was so beautiful, though it had a couple of paving stones in the middle- just the right size for a paddling pool (essential in Cornish summers, even pre- baby!)

So I would keep some the same, at the front snowdrops and crocuses, natural looking primroses. Then different annual low lying flowers every year. Nasturtiums sprawling out one side at the front and a marjoram out the other. Rosemary and lavender on the sides, a couple of cheeky raspberry canes at the back.

Then things that would be different to my old garden- a rose (don't make me chose which!) and if I had to give up my paddling pool then it would leave just enough space for a little magnolia which I would probably upset by putting a sweet pea up.
