We have a medium/large garden that is mainly laid to lawn (turf about 3 years old) to allow the DC to play. It's not what I'd choose so I would at least like the lawn to look lush and green. Unfortunately we have clay soil and it gets very compacted. Last year DH spent a long time aerating it with a fork, applying sand/seed/compost etc. This year we had decided to get a lawn care company to do this for us as we really lack the time at weekends. They came round today though and won't be able to fit their big aeration machine through the very narrow side access so we're back to square 1

I have done a bit of googling and found lawn mower sized electric aerators. Are they actually any good? Any other alternatives I should consider? Thanks
