Small but tall tree?

Does such a thing exist?
I want something that can grow fairly tall in order to screen out the view of our garden from a house opposite ours. They have a clear view from their upstairs windows down the side of our house into our garden. I have a narrow 2ft wide flower bed and I'd like to plant something that will obscure their view. I was thinking perhaps a small tree but I'm not sure what might be suitable?
I need something that grows up more than out!

look for fastigiate or columnar trees. There are lots out there.

2 foot is a bit tight for any tree I would think. Could you put tall trellis up, and have an evergreen climber ?

A climber wouldn't really do it. The house in question overlooks from the other side of the road but because our house is on an angle they look down the side of our house into the garden. So I need something tall and bushy if that makes sense, as anybody looking over from that house is looking down the length of our garden with a completely clear view.

Sorry I realise I've contradicted myself! I need something tall and that's about the width of the bed but won't overhang too much as the path runs right alongside the flower bed.

mmm - I don't think you are going to get a 2 foot wide tall and bushy tree tbh - the narrowest thing off the top of my head are things like Italian Cypress and Irish Yew, but you may need to shear these to keep them narrow

Juniper 'Skyrocket', or Taxus baccata Fastigiata, also in a gold variety, but you're looking at some years before they serve your purpose.

Hi, for the exact same reason I've purchased 2 trees recently. They are both evergreen & grow slender & tall (3-5 metres) but their trunk remains slim thereby allowing you to place them in a flower bed like I have.

1. Viburnum tinus (full standard)
2. Red robin photoia (full standard)

They are quite popular for this purpose but expensive to buy (2 metres tall). Their foliage is grown to specifically grow from the top of the fence height. In fact these are well known as screening trees.

How about a Liquidamber? You can get 'Slender Silhouette' which grows to about 6 m in 20 years, but only 1 m width.

Lovely autumn colour too

What about Bamboo. Phylostachys varieties, like nigra, or aurea, or Fargesia murielae. Easily contained, evergreen and hardy.
