Climbing plant idea in pot for front garden?

Hi all, I have a house with a tiny front garden that faced west and is fairly sunny. It is paved mainly and had a nice flower bed. I want to plant some climbing plants for the front wall to maybe start under the window and go around it / above door. They / it will need to be in pots. What would you recommend? Is wisteria too ambitious? Other ideas that would do ok in pots and grow fairly quickly up a wall? And would you put up a trellis or something simpler?

I have very little idea about gardening but I once had a jasmine that grew very quickly and smelled wonderful. Might grow well in a pot?

If not then here's a helpful bump for you

Clematis is lovely, grows fast and you can get them in lots of different colours.

Yes, you'd need to fix something onto the wall for them to climb along.

Do you have a garden centre near you at all? You could get lots of ideas and maybe tips there.

I have seen a Wisteria in a pot but couldn't say how well they grow.

You can grow load of things in pots, but almost all need a big one.

This for wisteria but of you Google" X-plant in a container", you'll get advice as to suitability.

Perfect question OP, I am just considering the same myself. I have a beautiful oak planter, 2'6 X 2'6 and want to put something gorgeous in it to climb by the door. I was thinking wisteria and also considering a lovely climbing rose. I have no gardening skills what so ever though.

Following with interest.

Wisteria is lovely but in my experience can be hard to manage. It grows very quickly and wildly so even in a pot would need a lot of training and pruning. If you have the time for it I would do it though as it is beautiful!

I might go for a lovely jasmine actually after having discussed with a couple of more knowledgable people. I think wisteria is probably too high maintenance.
