Looking after outdoor succulents

I bought a couple of teeny outdoor succulents last year and popped them in the same pot. One is more vigorous than the other. Can I just snip out some of the larger rosettes and pot on somewhere else?
Or would it be better to have separate pots for each one?

Each rosette will make a new plant - so you can either have five new plants or a clump! It depends what you want, really... but I'm always tempted to have MORE PLANTS!

Do I just cut them off and put in compost or do I need to put them in water to develop roots? Or something else completely different.

When I did my aeonium, I just plonked each rosette into compost. Rooting hormone may be helpful, though! Water them in but keep them dryish on the whole, or they will rot.

You can do leaf cuttings of the tiny individual pieces of each rosette if you really want to expand your collection rapidly! This involves a slightly different method, though.
