what can I plant in my allotment now? anything for over winter?

I've got some unused space and upcoming space when the onions are all up. This is only summer 2 of my allotment so I'm figuring it out as I go.

is there anything big I can grow at this point in the year? what about broccoli or kale, they over winter don't they?

or is it easier to pop in some rows of lettuce?

hmm, ideally sow. but plugs would be fine for the right crop.

Sow - wise you could def do oriental veg? I'm about to start off some pak choi, choi sum and Chinese cabbage.

You could do beets or turnip, some cabbage, chard.

Might be too late to start broc. or kale off, everyone seems to be planting them out now.

I might try some cabbage. See what happens.

You can have a go with some kale imo. It might catch up, but don't be too bothered if it doesn't.
Ovber wintering radish and beetroot can go in now.
I'm going to over winter onions and shallots but I'm not putting them in until October (onion seed can be sown in mid-August).
Fruit can be planted in the autumn too. I am pinning down my strawberry runners at the moment to transplant in October. I mulched the bed today!
