An all year round plant to remember my baby

Recently had a miscarriage and wanted to plant something in a pot to remember. Ideally something flowering and something which doesn't take too much work.

Can anyone recommend something?

I have sun and shade in my garden but obviously needs to work with UK weather!

I think what you choose needs to be really personal to you. It depends a bit how large a plant you'd like, too - something like an amelanchier tree will grow in a very large pot (when watered) but might be larger than you're looking for?

You could name your own rose or there are loads with names already to choose from . You could put a patio rose in a pot ( please correct me if I'm wrong anybody ) for you.

There are azaleas and camellias which are white, and flower early in the year. They can do well in pots.

Oh I like azaleas. Do I need special compost / soil?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would suggest a miniature rose that you could go easily in a pot. You can get them with white flowers.

For azaleas you need the same potting medium as for camellias and gardenias, acidic. If you google this, you'll find a specialist compost. All, the advice I have is Au-based, where most of these plants are grown in the ground.
