Hello there! I moved into our new home late last year and there are some trees I would like to know if they are fruit. I know there is definetly one (but not sure what) just wondering if there are any tips on finding out? Apart from waiting patiently that is. Grin

You might have to wait but the RHS website should help. If you are lucky enough to have fruit trees, I think they still have the service where you can send in fruit to have the variety identified.

Post pics on here? A pic of the overall tree shape, then a closer up one of a branch with good view of leaves.

I mean, I am a total ignoramus, but there's lots of people on here who are very knowledgeable!

Take the apples to a local apple day which tend to happen in the autumn - they'll have gardeners who specialise in fruit to identify them (they might not drill down to the precise genetic strain, but it'll be good enough for most people!)

Thanks for the help! I can try and post some pics on here. I'm a complete noob when it comes to trees. At our last house we had none as we completely redone the garden. Thanks.

JessBear123 · 18/04/2015 13:53

My fruit trees are all blossoming now, do yours have any flowers?

JessBear123 · 18/04/2015 15:12

yes lunar. its starts off like pink buds then comes out white flowers. I have posted some pics now if you can see them. Smile

On my phone now so I can't see the pics yet but I'll have look tonight. My apple blossom has pink buds. We got really lucky and discovered a well established pear and apple when we moved in. I've added cherry and plum trees now too. Nothing quite like eating fruit from your garden!

JessBear123 · 18/04/2015 17:30

Thank you lunar. That sounds lovely! I have recently planted a cherry tree as well. fingers cross I don't kill it.

They look like apples. Yours are way ahead of mine!

JessBear123 · 18/04/2015 17:39

Here is another one, though I don't think this is a fruit tree.

definitely apples - and that last one looks like hawthorn

lastlines · 20/04/2015 12:29

RHS identified all three of our apple trees at an apple day. Lovely people with such specialist knowledge!

JessBear123 · 20/04/2015 16:10

Thank you so much! A couple of people said that early in the thread so I will have a look at that lastline. Thanks.
Blue I have had a look and it looks very similer! Do you know if the berries are edible? I am so happy its an apple tree!
By the time we moved in every thing had shrivelled up.
