Cacti and succulents lovers - can you identify my plant (pics included in thread)

All I know is that its a echeveria, but not sure which.

It's leaves are waxy, green in the middle and going darker on the outside, brown/purple (?).

I have trawled the internet and looked in books but none look exactly like this, just similar. Maybe it's me. Any help appreciated.

There are plenty here, but don't know if any exactly right. Why do you need to know? And where did you get it? Maybe it's a new one that someone has crossed and developed!

I got it from our garden centre, just would be nice to see how it looks when mature, what colours the flowers will be, the size etc. I suppose not that important in the grand scheme of things but curious all the same.
Thanks for the link Smile

I meant by seeing images of how it would look when mature flowering etc.

It might be one of the dark leaved hybrids - 'Black Prince' is one, a hybrid of E. affinis and E. shaviana - I've attached a pic of mine. Yours probably hasn't been grown in enough light to develop the colour, as seems to be usual with garden centre plants (most of their cactus & succulents are grown in Belgium and Holland). It needs as much sun as you can give it, and while they are quite tolerant of being grown indoors on a windowsill, they only come into their own in a greenhouse.

The second pic shows how it looks when in flower - a tall spike with bright scarlet flowers - long lasting. Of course, it might not be the same as yours, as I'm guessing the colour it might become, but it looks very like 'Black Prince' to me.

I've been growing cacti & succulents for nearly 40 years, have two large greenhouses full of them, they can be addictive!

Ooh, glad you've got a greenhouse! It will do much better there, but be careful of exposing it to strong sun straight away, it could scorch. Echeverias are beautiful, I have many hybrids - big frilly ones in gorgeous colours, but only available from specialist growers (eBay is a good source), maybe you'll get the bug...

Thanks for your advice nan, yes echeverias are lovely to look at. I have a sanseveria too (MIL tongue) which is thriving. The spiky cacti are next on my list along with agaves Smile... and more succulents Smile
