You cut off just the flowering stalk and leave them alone for another 6-8w. They will be building up the bulb ready to go dormant until next spring.

It looks a bit messy with all the straggling leaves, so I planted alliums to take over from the daffs, and by the time they've finished (treated in the same way as daffs) the Forget-Me-Nots take over.

Whatever I plant has to look after itself and come back again next year. I don't do bedding plants Grin

You can bunch the leaves up and tie them together if your really worried about them looking out if place.

Cut off the flower, making sure you get the bobbly bit at the top of the stalk. This stops the plant putting its energy into producing seeds, and diverts it into putting it back into the bulb to make it nice and big next year. But don't be tempted to cut the leaves off! The plant is still photosynthesizing and all the energy it's producing will go back into the bulb, giving you a better display next year.

What aspect is your garden? If it's sunny, they will die back quite quickly so I wouldn't do anything. If like me you have north-facing, cool clay then you might want to tie them in bunches because they will still be around in June, sometimes even July Sad

Don't cut them. Leave them to wither naturally. About 6 weeks after the flowers stop to cut away the foliage as they are still producing food for the bulb for next year. You could scatter some wildflower seeds if it's a sunny spot. That would give a nice burst of colour. ( this all comes from dh I know feck all he is so green fingered)

Hostas - should start to come up about now. If they survive the slugs they pop out at exactly the time daffs look rough
