Planting Anemones Now?

If I planted anemones now, would they flower in the summer??
It says that they need to be planted October/November for spring flowering, but I never got round to itSad
So, I thought if I planted them now they would flower in the summer???
Any advice, please??

Not if they are the kind of anemones I am thinking of; they would never catch up.

BUT - there are various kinds, and some do flower later. Anyway, plant them and mark place where they are so you don't dig them up again! They are better off in the ground, rather than in a packet.

I have just found half a bag of anemone de Caen that did not get planted with the rest. I'll be bunging them in a pot with some narcissus on the basis of nothing ventured, nothing gained.

MyNightWithMaud this is my attitudeBlushWinkGrin
But the thing that is holding me back a little is that I bought them from Hampton Court Flower Show when I went with my mum last year, as I bought the tickets for us as a birthday present for my mum, so I don`t want to say to her that I have failed in growing them because I planted at the wrong time of year!!
Guilty?? Me?? Noooo.......not muchGrinGrin

Well, quite.

The way I see it is that if we give up now and just sling them in the compost heap, we've definitely failed. Whereas if we plant them late, they may at least produce some of their lovely leaves, so we will have got something from them. I've often planted bulbs very late and got away with it, but as these are corms they may behave differently, in which case you may have to be somewhat evasive with your mum and say that you planted them but they failed to thrive, without mentioning when you planted them!

I doubt they will flower, but you might get some leaves and build them up for next year!
