Orchid help?

Ive aquired a rather depressed looking little orchid. I've never had any experience in orchids at all and wondered if anyone on here had some tips to revive the poor thing. I think it needs a new pot but I'm unsure exactly what's best for it! Any advice appreciated!

Is it growing in a clear pot with a lot of roots crowding out of the top?

Try a new lot of orchid compost (not ordinary compost, it's really different) and a bit of orchid food (you can buy special stuff), in a slightly larger pot (but not too massive, they don't like too much space). I keep mine in the bathroom for a bit after they've flowered to recover - many of them don't like direct sun so keep it somewhere relatively shady but not too dark. Water once a week or so, but don't leave it sitting in there with its feet wet all the time until you know whether it's a moisture-loving variety.

Don't mean to offend, but I never understand why people ask on MN, when there are so many dedicated sites to every kind of topic. Here are a few orchid ones:

Pale or clear pot, and keep in the bathroom.

Ferguson, people ask on here because there are loads of different sections, and someone is bound to be able to help.

If you go onto a specialist website and ask a question such as this one you can sometimes be treated like a complete idiot and it's not very nice.

It happened to me once, when I saw a very unusual-looking bird in the garden, (and I mean extremely unusual and odd). I went onto a birding site to describe it and ask what it might be, and was told it could be a blackbird/thrush/crow/starling/magpie etc. Doh.. if it had been one of them I'd have recognised it wouldn't I? They were totally condescending and patronising and it wasn't an experience I would care to repeat.

I'm a novice too, but managed to revive one in a sorry state by using those orchid food drip feeders. Now it has loads of buds and is just about to flower very happy! I keep mine in the bathroom too.

Dont forget to spray it to keep it moist in case its a dryish place (as per posters putting it in bathroom).

I had a new plant grow from mine which I cut from it and repotted it, I think it flowered once then went dormant for a season just being green leaves and now a new shoot has come up with a flower starting to bud on it.

Mines in a pot in an orchid bark, plunge it in water till the bark is sodden then lift and let it drain a bit then popped back in the outer pot about once a week.

Thanks for the advice everyone, will what you've advised and hopefully bring it round!
