Hello..got a lonely present of some david austin vouchers for Christmas and I can pick two or three roses. Has anyone got any favorites they can recommend? I don't really have any space for climbers etc and I have quite a collection already but I'm stumped as to which to go for. I have a lot of pinks and apricots already so maybe something different. Any suggestions?

William Shakespeare is stunning. I've got it with bronzey coloured grasses and some apricot verbascum.
Or how about Crown Princess Margareta which starts deep orange and gets paler apricot and gold in full sun. I have it in a bed with purples and blues and it looks amazing (but sounds weird reading it back)!

Ooh I'll look at Shakespeare. I have the other already and it is a gorgeous one. I love cottage garden planting!

I love the David Austen site. I bought Princess Anne last year which is pink. This year hoping to buy Claire Austen or Woolerton Old Hall.

What are your favourite roses in your garden at present?

I have William Shakespeare, Falstaff, Buff Beauty and Darcey Bussell. Darcey is my favourite and utterly gorgeous, with a long flowering season.

Blushing Bride (I know, naff name!) is gorgeous. Small-ish purple flowers, and smells absolutely amazing.

Souvenir du Dr Jamain. (Excuse spelling, I'd like to blame autocorrect). Munstead wood is glorious too.
