Best flowering cherry tree?

We had to cut down ours in the garden because it was rotten, so I'm looking for a replacement. I like the look of the one with the burgundy leaves, but how dense are the flowers? There isn't enough space for a weeping cherry.

Any cherry tree experts out there?!

I am bumping this for you as I'm also interested.

We're moving into a new house in the next month and once we're settled I would like to plant a cherry blossom but I'm a complete garden novice and know nothing :)

I have two - they are both lovely. One is a Prunus Amanogawa - a narrow growing flagpole cherry which is great for a small garden. Also a Prunus Kanzan which has beautiful double flowers. I also like the one with the bronze bark - Prunus Serrula. I have one if we had any more space for trees!!

I planted an Amanagowa in my garden: not many flowers in its first year, but then its a shady north facing garden
In mum's garden we planted a weeping cherry. It will be stunning in some years time. Thinking about it I wish we had chosen one with edible fruit. The blossom would probably be similar.
Once on my way to something at work I saw a stunning white flowering cherry in a front garden which looked really beautiful and elegant with dark bark.

I didn't have many flowers on either of mine in the first year but they were both stunning and covered in flowers last year (3 yrs since I planted them now)! Think it takes them a few years to really get going. Agree the white flowering ones are beautiful. So many flowering cherries to chose from and they are not generally fussy about soil type etc which is good..

I planted pink perfection - it's lovely if you like the frothy pink candyfloss effect- does have green leaves though.

If you want purple leaves there's a lovely dark pink flowering one which I unhelpfully can't remember the name of.

Had a classy white single flowered one in our last garden which was lovely too, but I found I really wanted the pink!
