Does Jeyes fluid kill moss?

And would it be a good choice?

Google seems to say it does. I've got moss on a gravel path and bits of a patio. It's not particularly near any plants I'm fond of, but what is a 'safe' distance from other plants (allowing for it being washed around by rain, even if applied when none is in the forecast).

And his hostile to wildlife? We've no pets, but nextdoor's lovely, friendly cat quite often comes to chat when I'm gardening.

(Sorry to sound clueless, but I don't use chemicals much and am a bit nervous of unintended effects).

I don't know if it KILLS moss, but it can help remove it from paths. I don't think it will hurt domestic animals, but it could harm insects, worms, slow worms etc, if it reaches them.

Have a good look at the Jeyes Fluid web site, as it has been used a a disinfectant in gardening, for 50 or 60 years I would guess. Also, see if the RHS has anything on it.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, those two sites stick with the currently licensed use (disinfectant), though I did find a page saying products with its active ingredient we're being withdrawn as path clearers/moss killers. So it'll probably work (fingers crossed) and it's only a very small area with gravel (which I really can't face attacking other than with a chemical, though I might scrape and scrub the patio)

Very hot water would work just as well - if you could borrow a steam cleaner or car jet wash that would do it, with no danger to your plants.
