There's a bit of it in my garden and I like it, but I've no idea what it is.

Can anyone identify this climber?

that's ivy.
keep away from the roof (and preferably house walls)

Oh, that's interesting. I thought it wasn't as its pretty rigid rather than creepy on top. I was just going to try and take some cuttings to put up against our ugly fence, so if it's ivy I'll get on with that as cuttings from ivy look likely to work.
Thanks!

english aivy. It will go everywhere, very rapidly. And be a bitch to get rid of if you ever need to. And whatever it attaches irself to will forever have the markings from its tendrils if you cut it back. And it can look scruffy in a more formal garden.

On the plus side, the bees and wood pigeons used to love ours, the berries are pretty (poisonous!), it's great for wildlife in general.

I did think it was odd how I always see this mystery climber growing on top of ivy! The bits at the top look different from to the rest.
It should be ok on cheap wooden fence, I could do with quick cover.

The adult leaves are different from the juvenile ones, and apparently if you take cuttings from the adult bit you can make small shrubs which will keep that shape of leaf and not climb - not that they've ever taken for me, but so I heard.
