Ideas for a play area surface in our brand new garden

The digger is excavating & levelling over the next few days & we're wondering what the best surface would be. There'll be swings in this area (4mx5m) & DH thought bark might be a good soft surface. Really would love artificial grass but too much £££ & he thinks sowing a lawn will be too difficult to lift & replace by the time we can afford it. I don't like the idea of bark (coming into house/being eaten by little people...). But I don't know what else to suggest. Any ideas?

EVA Tiles

Outside, Mis? Saw nothing on that page suggesting that they can be used outdoors….Great tiles though, I'd already thought of these for the playroom floor.

I've had some outside for a decade now. They've moved house, well a few of them have, four times.

The red ones have faded to a dusty pink in full sunshine but they're really durable.

These black ones are about 6 years old and have moved just the once (full on winter blew in last night in the North West so Its a little messy, please excuse). They are in partial sun and have faded just slightly. I would avoid black in full sunshine though because it gets quite warm. The other colours don't seam too.
