Miniature fruit trees (not bushes)

A couple of my fellow allotment holders have lovely miniature apple and pear tress on their plots, unfortunately I never see them to ask what varieties they are and where they got them from, but the idea really appeals.

Has anyone got any experience of these, or recommendations for suppliers? We are not allowed to cast shade on other people's plots so I need to keep them down to about 1.5m in height. I would possibly train them along posts and wires.

I can't do links right now, but just google dwarf fruit trees uk and you'll come up with suppliers. The main thing is to check about pollination, as some need to be near specific other fruit trees to succeed.

I've planted two dwarf apple trees, but my supplier is in Tasmania, so not helpful for you.

The hard bit is that as soon as you plant them, you must prune quite strongly. Which goes against the grain.

Good luck.

Try Pomona Fruits...I've had fan trained ones from them before!

Why don't you stick a wee note on the tree, complimenting their taste and ask if they could leave a note telling you what they are? Leave a pen with the note. Could be a new friend waiting for you. Smile

Thank you all, I never thought of leaving a note, the other plotholders are all generally very pleasant and helpful so that's a good idea.
