Is it too early to plant autumn / winter (is there such a thing?) hanging baskets?

Complete newbie here (apologies in advance!)

I went away for a few weeks over the summer and DH forgot to water the hanging baskets which are now looking very sorry for themselves. I am guessing that they would be on their last legs anyway (?) and thought about planting with autumn flowers. Is there such a thing? Is it worth it?

Thanks for any advice :)

Autumn pansies or cyclamen depending on where they are positioned. Heathers, grasses, have a look at the garden centre they have lots for autumn pots and baskets and they look lovely..

Thanks fiorentina. I think, actually, it was a lack of dead heading and small baskets that caused the problem.

I think I will buy bigger baskets and have a look at the plants you suggested.

Thanks again Thanks
