what would survive in my shady pots?

What can I plant that would cope with total shade? I want to fill some pots to put in sheltered north facing concrete yard to make it less grim. Needs to be non-poisonous for toddler and slug resistant as I have a plague of them.

Ferns. Hosta. Bizzie lizzies can manage although won't be fab.

Ferns & heuchera together look good. Try the rhs website.

Yes, ferns and heucheras are robust. J Parker's have a collection of 'painted' ferns which I have in a very shady corner and they are great. For hostas, you would probably need to use Slug Clear (liquid slug killer) if you didn't want to use pellets, as otherwise they would be shredded.

Hellebores

Thanks for all the suggestions - i'm going to go shopping Smile I'd forgotten that I really like hellebores and heuchera - I think I'm going to start there. I've been reading about natural sheeps wool pellets as slug repellents, I might try them.
