Rowantree - can I grow it in a pot ?

Neighbour has given me her unwanted Rowan tree- it is about 5-6ft high We have a small garden-lawn,a few narrow borders and a paved area ( quite ugly but not changing in the near future due to lack of £ )
So not really any space for it but I am hoping it might be possible to grow it in a large pot ? This would enhance the paved area as well , although it is quite shady.
Any advice grateful - I am a novice but keen to fill garden with interesting colourful freebies.

thanks

I had a neighbour who had everything in pots. Anything is possible, but for a tree that size with the potential to grow several metres tall - we have one in our garden - you'll need a huge pot, it won't be able to spread it's roots and you'll have to water it. Lots.

I would either plant it or donate it to a local school, or community centre.

Just so you are aware, we get flowers dropping off everywhere as the berries form then later in the year the berries fall off everywhere and finally in autumn it drops it's leaves. Much as I love it, it can be a pain!

Thanks wowfudge, I have been having second thoughts about it. Hadn't even thought about the mess from the berries /leaves/flowers ..

The potential height would be a problem too
