Seed planting for 4yr olds

DD will be having her 4th birthday party in a couple of weeks and I thought it might be fun or insane to let the children to plant some seeds in a little pot that they can take home. Any idea what might work? I just killed a pot of corriander I bought for salads, so I'm clueless about where to start.

I am not in any way a gardening expert but sunflower seeds are always a popular choice! We have had recent success with marigolds too. Are you going to get them to decorate the pot as well? Otherwise it's a really quick activity... Also they need to make a flag to stick in the pot with the name of the plant on it! We once planted phacelia (sp?) which is good for bees apparently but they didn't make it!
I think it's a nice idea for a party, maybe they could make a bee as well...?
What else are you planning for the party?

Good ol' cress (and optional mustard) won't let you down...

Nasturtiums are good, the seeds are big and chunky so hard to lose, and they are very easy to grow from seed. Beans are good too, if you grow them in a jar or CD case then you can see how the seed develops into a plant.

Nasturtiums! They are totally slug and snail proof. You can eat the flowers and leaves too!

What a lovely idea.

Thanks for the ideas ladies. I was thinking about sunflowers, but I wasn't sure if it would be too late for them?

We'll be having the party in the back garden, so we'll have the swing, slide and bouncy castle, which always keep them busy and I was going to get them to make a flag or paint the pot so they'd know who owns which one. (I'll have some pass the parcel and musical statues on standby for any lull!) I thought it'd be a nice alternative to a party bag, although in reality, I'll probably end up doing them too. The other mums will probably hate me for sending home something that will need minding... Confused
