how do I look after new turf?

We just had our garden turfed. Already there is fox crap on it and a suspicious brown patch on it.
We are watering twice a day for a couple of hours, as instructed. How long do we need to do it for, and what does it mean by 'until it's taken?!'
Can I do anything to deter the foxes?
When can we walk on it?
How do we stop weeds taking over?
Anything else we need to know?

Marking my place. Got new turf recently and I want to keep it looking nice.

Pull the corner up a bit, if it's bedded down and you can't pull it up then it's taken. If it's really sunny if continue to water though. A few weeks until you can walk on it probably no more than 3.

Not sure about foxes I'm afraid. Just be vigilant with weeds and pull them up with their root or they'll just keep coming back!

Ah, okay, so it will take a few weeks to be bedded in then. It only got laid on Saturday so we are still watering a lot. It's so lovely to go out and see lush green grass compared to the building site it has been for the last 9 months! I will be very vigilant with weeds, my Grandad used to have a special weeding tool, I might ask him what it is and see if I can get one just so I can have a specific 'gardening implement' - how sad am I?!

I weed my lawn with an old kitchen devil knife, it does double duty as a slug knife too.
Don't take it back indoors though, if you might mix them up

In due course you can 'feed' it, and once it is established and strong possibly use a feed-weed-mosskill treatment. Did the company that laid it give any other instructions?

When you do start to mow it, don't take it down too short, especially if the summer is hot.

I'm sure there must be dedicated web sites for maintaining the best lawns! Otherwise look at RHS and BBC sites.
