Want to grow some from seed and sell for charity, which would you recommend as the most popular. TIA.

parsley - flat or curly leaf.
basil - can be grown in a window all year round.
are you planning to sow now for a christmas fayre or next year?

Mint is easy to grow too

KathyMCMLXXII · 29/08/2006 14:59

I'd have thought growing basil would be a sure-fire winner as it dies down in the winter so you have to keep buying new ones.

Thank you all. Chestnutty, thinking about spring, blubs etc.

Rosemary is very hardy. I just stuck clippings in the earth and they grew.

Sage goes wild, but I'm not sure how popular it is.

I rather like canabis too.

lmao spidermama, that would be more profitable too!

But more seriously, growing garlic or chilli/ sweet peppers would be best if you plan to sell them on as they are easy to grow but also easy to sell at a high price, watercress and cress are really easy to grow too and yield more often.

Oh, I do wish we could just grow cannabis openly, without it being illegal. It smells so nice and it's a very attractive plant.

Marjoram, sage, lemon thyme, rosemary and parsley are doing really well in my garden - my basil is struggling, as usual. I've lost patience with its primadonna antics and have taken to buying freeze-dried.

Mint
Thyme
Basil
Coriander
Parsley
Chives

All are very easy to grow. I wouldnt necessarily bother with Rosemary or Sage because you wont get much to show for your efforts for the first 2 years tbh.
