Is there any hope for my tomato plants? :-(

Eek...my fault entirely. They are young plants in between seedling/harvesting stage and don't look well. I live in the NW, so inclement weather here mostly. I have been moving the poor things about, admittedly, from cloche to conservatory to inside of house depending on temperature. The edge of the leaves are Brown/whitish at the edges, a bit curled and ook bitten (?) and the main stems are furry and dark-ish, but there is new leaf growth in the middle of the oouter leaves. I am watering them every morning and feeding once a week. The remaining 3 that I have are looking a little limp despite feeding them this morning and have been in the conservatory the last 48 hrs. They are now in the warm kitchen. How can I stop them perishing? Heeelp Sad

they sound over watered to me

Sounds like too much water to me too. Dark furry stems sounds like they are rotting Sad they don't need to be watered every day at this stage really Smile

Tomato plants need feeding only after the first truss has set fruit.

Thanks for the download, Hatgirl, the root initiative bit/cold soil looks more like the problem. I've moved them into the warm kitchen to 'dry out', and hopefully warm up the soil. Hope they survive ...Sad

Oh no :( I've been killing them with kindness, haven't I? Good job I didn't have kids...:/

If I dry them out, is there any chance the rotting will reverse, maybe change the compost and leave them alone. whispers?

I thought tomatoes were greedy/thirsty plants, hence the feeding/watering regime. I used general plant food, which covered veg.

Sunbathe, they are cherry tomatoes, semi trailing, so no trusses as such.

afriend, a truss is a set of flowers.

When the first flowers have been fertilised and start to wither, you'll see a little green tomato behind it. That's when you need to start feeding the plants.

hee hee you can tell I'm not green fingered, can't you subathe:-) I still have seeds left so will sow more and learn my lesson next time...

Good luck. Smile

I only got round to sowing my tomato seeds yesterday. Feeling very lazy! But they tend to catch up, anyway.
